Glencree launches Bridge Intergenerational Storytelling Podcast

4/3/25: The Glencree Centre for Peace & Reconciliation (Glencree) is pleased to share a new podcast episode which highlights the experiences of women and young people who took part in the BRIDGE Intergenerational Storytelling project. This initiative empowered participants from diverse backgrounds across Ireland to develop leadership skills through storytelling, fostering empathy and intercultural understanding. Through hands-on training and meaningful conversations, they explored the power of personal narratives in bringing communities together, supporting peacebuilding and reconciliation efforts.

Facilitated independently by a group of young women who are members of Glencree's All-Island Women's Peacebuilding Network, the BRIDGE Intergenerational Storytelling project ran throughout 2024. The project was funded by the European Solidarity Corps, managed by Leargas and supported by Glencree under our Women's Leadership Programme.

The BRIDGE project provided participants with opportunities to learn from storytelling methodologies, including Theatre of Witness, and apply their skills in real-world settings. Engaging in five training sessions, the young women participants developed their storytelling approaches, facilitated dialogues across generations and used storytelling as a tool to navigate difficult conversations and amplify often unheard voices. Podcasting also emerged as a powerful medium for reflection, to share personal journeys and the impact of the project on their lives.

This is the first in a series of podcast episodes highlighting our learning from projects and programmes run by Glencree. Today's BRIDGE podcasts gives listeners the opportunity to hear directly from the women who took part in the project, as they share their insights, challenges and the lessons they have carried forward into their communities. Their stories reflect the power of storytelling in building understanding and lasting connections across divides.

We invite you to tune in to the podcast as the women share their experiences of the project and the transformative impact of intergenerational storytelling on them and their communities. Click to Listen >
