Connecting Women across generations, communities, cultures & ethnicities

In 2020, the Women's Leadership Programme established the Glencree All-Island Women’s Peacebuilding Network with the goal of building strong, meaningful relationships among women from across the island of Ireland who have been affected by political or violent conflict, as well as those who are actively working to build peace in their communities.

With over 300 members, the network connects women across traditional divides in a safe and supportive space. It brings together women from different generations, communities, cultures and ethnicities. Members come from cross-community backgrounds in Northern Ireland, cross-border rural regions, and women who have lived through conflict in other countries and now call Ireland home.

The network fosters trust, mutual understanding and the sharing of lived experiences. Members learn from one another and from their wider networks, deepening their knowledge of peacebuilding and conflict transformation. These exchanges help strengthen relationships, build confidence and create opportunities for meaningful collaboration.

Members are also encouraged to engage in events and activities that amplify their voices and ensure their experiences and perspectives are included in decision-making and policy discussions related to women’s needs and rights in the context of peacebuilding and post-conflict transformation.
