Glencree & partners launch Missing Peace Project Toolkit to Engage Young People in Peacebuilding

27/3/25: The Glencree Centre for Peace & Reconciliation (Glencree), together with our consortium partners in the Missing Peace project, are delighted to launch a new resource to help youth workers, educators and community practitioners engage young people in peacebuilding and reconciliation. The Missing Peace Project Toolkit, developed as part of the EU-funded Missing Peace project, provides 12 interactive activities designed to foster dialogue, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills.

The Missing Peace project is a 31-month initiative undertaken by Glencree with consortium partners from Germany, Cyprus, Hungary, Lithuania and North Macedonia. Since its inception in January 2023, the project has explored innovative ways to integrate non-formal education and youth work into peacebuilding efforts across Europe. The new toolkit is a direct outcome of this work, co-designed and piloted with young people, youth workers and community practitioners to ensure its relevance and impact.

A Practical Resource for Youth Engagement

Designed to be accessible and adaptable, the toolkit provides innovative methods to support young people in developing the skills and awareness needed to navigate conflict and contribute to peacebuilding in their communities. It includes a diverse range of interactive and engaging activities including:

  • Role-playing scenarios that simulate real-life conflicts
  • Workshops on understanding the roots and impact of conflict
  • Mock trials to build conflict resolution and public speaking skills
  • Creative exercises using music, storytelling and documentary-making
  • Games and interactive discussions on cultural differences, identity and dialogue

The Missing Peace Project Toolkit is available for free to youth organisations, educators and community groups. Click on the button to download the PDF.
