25/2/25: Glencree Community and Political Dialogue Manager, Pat Hynes, was honoured to join former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern for a discussion on peacebuilding with a visiting delegation from the Alliance for Middle East Peace (ALLMEP).

The event explored lessons from the Northern Ireland peace process, with Mr. Ahern reflecting on the challenges faced in reaching the 1998 Belfast/Good Friday Agreement and the ongoing efforts required to implement and sustain its terms.

Drawing from Glencree’s experience in reconciliation, Pat Hynes emphasised the vital role of dialogue and relationship-building in creating the trust necessary for lasting peace. The exchange offered a reminder that while each context is unique, shared experiences can inspire and inform progress in conflict affected societies.
