Ciarán Toland SC to Chair Glencree Board


14/11/23: The Board of the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation (Glencree) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ciarán Toland SC as Chair Designate. Mr Toland will assume the office of Chair in spring 2024, succeeding Acting Chair Ken Slattery.

Ciarán Toland is a practising barrister and Senior Counsel at the Bar of Ireland and Bar of Northern Ireland. Mr Toland has over 19 years’ experience primarily in the area of public law, specialising in EU law. A native of Lisburn, Co Antrim, he studied law in Trinity College Dublin before completing the Bar at the Honorable Society of King’s Inns, Dublin.

Commenting on the appointment of Mr. Toland, Acting Chair and Board Director Ken Slattery said: “On behalf of the Board and the Executive team, I am delighted to welcome Ciarán as Chair designate of the Board. In addition to the depth of his legal expertise, he brings extensive experience in the area of governance and of working with a range of stakeholders particularly across the island of Ireland and EU.
