Ciarán Ó Cuinn joins Glencree Board

29/3/2022: Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation (Glencree) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ciarán Ó Cuinn to the Board of Directors. Mr. Ó Cuinn is an expert in strategy, public policy and peace processes. He spent a decade as Special Adviser at three Irish ministries largely focused on the Irish Peace Process. He advises governments on strategy, policy and peace processes. In his work in the Middle East he is engaged in multilateral dialogue between the core parties of the Middle East Peace Process and developing multilateral models that use transboundary environmental issues such as water and climate change in the service of a peace process. He leads MEDRC, the sole surviving institution of the Multilateral Peace Process in the Middle East.

Commenting on his appointment, Glencree Chair, Barbara Walshe said: “Glencree is delighted to welcome Ciarán to the Board. He brings many years of strategic peacebuilding experience at both national and international levels. This expertise is  particularly important as we embark on our journey to establish Glencree as a Centre of Excellence in practical peacebuilding and learning exchanges for local, European and international conflict prevention and transformation. This is one of the five key strategic objectives laid down in our new 5-year strategic plan and we look forward to the role Ciarán will play in helping us achieve these ambitious targets. He and his family have a strong historical connection to the Glencree Valley and indeed to the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation. We look forward to working with him.”
