Corrymeela Recommitment Service – Good Friday Agreement

Location: Clonard Monastery, Belfast

On Sunday 16th April at Clonard Monastery, Naoimh McNamee (Glencree CEO) joined with Corrymeela and the congregation to reflect on the peacebuilding journey and the life and light we continue to share.

It was a chance to acknowledge the courage of those who helped create a moment of hope 25 years ago, and an opportunity to rededicate ourselves today to a just and lasting peace.

The Recommitment at Clonard is the centrepiece of a series of events Corrymeela hosted to mark the anniversary of the agreement.

We must never forget the cost of losing the relative peace we have enjoyed on this island over the past 25 years. So many families, communities and relationships still bear the scars; so many people are still working across Northern Ireland, holding communities together so that our young people may have a more hopeful future and so that the peace dividend can be experienced by all equally.
