9/2/2024:The Glencree Centre for Peace & Reconciliation (Glencree) will host the next event in its EU-funded Erasmus+ 'Missing Peace: Youth, Peace, and Reconciliation' project on 13 February 2024.
This webinar, part of a series currently being held by the project consortium partners, will look further at how the consortium can support participants, including youth workers and youth organisations, with local implementation of their learnings. It follows recently held webinars by CGE Erfurt e.V. (Germany) and Citizens Act (Cyrpus) as the process of developing the project toolkit continues.
The Glencree hosted webinar will also feature a segment with members of Glencree’s All-Island Women’s Peacebuilding Network who took part in earlier activities of the project including youth exchanges, training courses and partner meetings. Through their participation, the women formed meaningful connections across generations through sharing of their lived experiences with others. From their involvement, a group of 5 young women, supported by other women in the Network, went on to develop and successfully secure funding for their own European Solidarity Corps project - Transgenerational Storytelling. Some of the women involved will share their experience of this project development and grant writing process as part of the webinar.
The Glencree Missing Peace project aims to build the capacity of youth workers and organisations to engage young people in peace and reconciliation processes within their communities. The project involves a consortium of partners across 6 countries: Ireland, Germany, Cyprus, Lithuania, Macedonia and Hungary, who bring their in-depth knowledge, skills and experience together to collectively design, deliver and implement this important and timely project. Over 31 months, the consortium are working together to examine ways to successfully incorporate non-formal education and youth work into peacebuilding across Europe. This exploration will lay the groundwork for the development of pedagogical interventions, a training programme for young people and youth workers and a practical toolkit that will be made available to support communities in engaging young people in peacebuilding across Europe.
