Glencree Women's Leadership Programme
Consultation on the Peace Summit Call To Action
Thursday 24 October 2024, 10 – 11.30am
Online via Zoom
The Peace Summit Report was launched in 2023 by the the Peace Summit Partnership, an initiative of The John and Pat Hume Foundation and Community Dialogue in partnership with Glencree, Youth Action NI, Holywell Trust, Ulster University and the Integrated Education Fund. Between November 2022 - May 2023, the partners undertook a series of in-depth consultation events with over 700 peace builders, local communities and young people from across Northern Ireland and the border counties. Contributors gave their views on progress made in the 25 years since the signing of the Good Friday Agreement and actions needed going forward towards sustained peace and reconciliation.
A Consultation Document was produced from this process which was actively considered and debated at the inaugural Peace Summit held in Magee University Derry in May 2023. This resulted in the final Call To Action, featuring 12 critical recommendations, which was disseminated to political, public administrative and civil society actors and institutions. The Consultation and Summit were supported financially by the International Fund for Ireland, with additional support provided by the Department of Foreign Affairs Reconciliation Fund and Ulster University.
The Consultation of the Glencree Women's Leadership programme will help inform next steps by the Peace Summit in seeing the Call To Action translated into a realisable programme of delivery with actionable steps. This consultation will take place on Thursday 24th October from 10am - 11.30am. As well as reviewing the Peace Summit plan, women members will be invited to share perspectives and feedback on the proposed Call To Action and its relevance to the work of the members.
