Glencree Meets UK Northern Ireland Affairs Committee in Dublin

 

25/3/25: The Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation (Glencree) was honoured to meet with the UK House of Commons Northern Ireland Affairs Committee during their recent visit to Dublin. The meeting at the British Embassy in Dublin, focused on the current state of UK-Ireland relations, ongoing legacy issues and the continuing impact of paramilitarism in Northern Ireland.

The Glencree delegation - which included Board Chair James Bridgeman SC, Board Director Tom Arnold, CEO Naoimh McNamee and Community and Political Dialogue Programme Manager Pat Hynes - shared insights from the Glencree's decades of work in facilitating dialogues, building trust and supporting reconciliation across communities divided by conflict. Committee members described the exchange as deeply valuable, noting how Glencree’s experience offers important lessons for peacebuilding efforts both in Northern Ireland and beyond.

The Glencree delegation welcomed the opportunity to contribute to the Committee’s understanding of current challenges and to reaffirm the importance of sustained engagement in peace and reconciliation efforts.
