Susan Cahill

Head of Operations
Susan Cahill is Head of Operations at the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation and a key member of the Senior Management Team. She provides strategic and operational leadership across Governance and Compliance, Human Resources, Customer Relationship Management, Project Management, Development, and Procurement. Working closely with the CEO and Board, she ensures strong corporate oversight, regulatory compliance, and effective programme delivery. Susan acts as the central co-ordinator of Glencree’s support functions, aligning administrative, financial, and operational systems to enable impact, accountability, and sustainable growth.
Susan holds an LL.M. in International Human Rights Law and a postgraduate qualification in Green Technologies, as well as advanced certifications in Project, Change, and Risk Management. As a journalist and documentary maker, Susan has worked with UN agencies and Irish and international NGOs across Africa, South and Central America, South East Asia, and the Middle East, producing in-depth reporting and documentaries that centre the lived experiences of marginalised communities in the fields of human rights, development, and social justice. With over 25 years of experience, she brings strategic clarity, governance expertise, and strong stakeholder leadership to complex, mission-driven organisations.
Throughout her career, Susan has championed social justice, inclusion, and sustainability. As a senior producer and presenter at Newstalk, she led award-winning international documentaries that amplified underrepresented voices. At Mercy International Association, she delivered a globally focused heritage exhibition blending research and digital storytelling. Most recently, with Re-turn, she led national sustainability pilot programmes advancing Ireland’s circular economy through strategic partnerships and social impact.
Susan is a lifelong volunteer, a keen gardener, and a reader.
