‘If our democracies and the European project are to survive they will have to evolve in concert with the idea of diversity. It is an idea that frightens many, but it should not. The alternative—the failure of diversity—is the real threat, since it will spawn divided communities, alienation, insecurity.’
– Peter Sutherland (Special Representative for Migration to UN Secretary General)

One~resolve will hold their next meeting on Thursday 3 March at a new venue, the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland at 6 Kildare Street in their Winter Hall, commencing at 7.30pm.

In a recent article Mary Carolan, Courts Correspondent of the Irish Times, pointed out that some 770,000 people, or 17% of the Irish population, were born outside Ireland. She suggested that the time has come for a mature debate on the reality of a multicultural Ireland. The ONE~resolve organisation will contribute to initiation of such a debate, and Mary Carolan has agreed to lead the discussion.

The topic is of relevance to conflict resolution and law relating to refugees and asylum-seekers.
The meeting will be chaired by Barbara Walshe, who is Chair of the Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation and is a mediator and practitioner in Restorative Justice.

Contributions of €10 are requested and €20 if CPD certification is required. CPD certificates in form to meet Law Society requirements (professional management and development – mediation – by group study) will be available for this event. Please email Aoife Fennelly (aoife.fennelly[at]oneresolve.ie) to secure a place as numbers are limited and state whether you will require CPD.
