11/4/24: The Glencree Women’s Leadership Programme will host an online panel discussion on Gender Equality and Climate Justice for programme participants, members of the Glencree All-Island Women's Peacebuilding Network, and women involved in peacebuilding in their communities. This online event will take place on Tuesday April 23rd from 10 -11am on Zoom.

During the event, the speakers will explore what we mean by climate justice and how this global issue has been supported, implemented and engaged with at national and local community level. They will also examine relevant policies and the impact of advocacy on gender equality, climate justice and peacebuilding.
Following contributions from our panel, the discussion will be opened for questions and contributions from attendees and their views on how the climate crisis and related policies impact on women and communities. Participants will also have the opportunity to share their work in this space, and invite or welcome others to engage and support these climate action efforts.
This event is open to Members of Glencree's All-Island Women's Peacebuilding Network, participants in our Women's Leadership Programme and women peacebuilders.
Eimear Manning (She/They) is the Youth & Climate Justice Development Officer in the National Youth Council of Ireland where she manages youth-led projects centred on issues of climate change, climate justice, and meaningful youth inclusion. Eimear also currently sits on a Drafting Committee creating a new Council of Europe Recommendation on Young People and Climate Action. She has been nominated by the Department of Education to be Ireland’s representative on the UNECE Education for Sustainable Development Steering Committee Youth Platform. Eimear holds a Master of Science in Environmental Sustainability.
Mair Kelly (She/Her) is the Community Engagement Officer for the Centre for Environmental Justice under Community Law and Mediation. She has a BSc in International Development and Food Policy from UCC and is currently undertaking the Level 7 course, Community Work in a Changing Ireland: Feminist Climate Justice with CWI and NWCI.
Diandra Ní Bhuachalla is the SDG Campaigns Officer for Coalition2030, and the Coordinator of the United Nations Youth Delegate programme with the National Youth Council of Ireland. Diandra is the European Economic and Social Committee’s Youth Delegate for COP28 & COP29, a member of UNESCO’s SDG4 Youth & Student Network, as well as a former UN Youth Delegate for Ireland. She holds a BSc Government (Hons), an LLB, and an MSc International Public Policy & Diplomacy from University College Cork.
Joanne Butler and her husband started OURganic Gardens in 2013, initially to facilitate work in community gardens and which has since developed into running workshops at their home on a four-acre site in Gortahork focused on growing vegetables and designing food and permaculture gardens. Joanne completed a business mentorship on the ACORNS programme for women entrepreneurs in Ireland and has worked throughout her community in other environmental project such as VOICE ambassadors, Cool Planet Champions, and Grow Ambassador for Ireland. Since Covid, she has taught over 700 online participants from her potting shed in Donegal and collaborated in environmental projects such as seedIT Union an EIP Soil Biodiversity & Enhancement project with Talamh Beo. Currently the Climate Action Officer with Donegal Local Development Company, Joanne has also held the role of Development Officer and Facilitator with Donegal ChangeMakers, working with the seeds of change participants and mentoring projects and Fairtrade groups in Donegal.
