11/11/2020: Glencree was established in 1974 and works tirelessly to promote peace, reconciliation and inclusivity on the islands of Ireland and Britain. Glencree played an important role in the Northern Ireland peace process and has engaged in practical peacebuilding and reconciliation in Ireland, north and south, and internationally. Today, Glencree works with individuals and communities impacted by conflict including victims/survivors, combatants, women, refugee and migrant communities, and other vulnerable minorities. As well as our ongoing work on the island of Ireland, our perspective and expertise has been shared in more than ten conflict and post-conflict countries around the globe. The Glencree Centre is located at Glencree, County Wicklow.

The Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation is looking to appoint an experienced individual to serve as an independent member of the Audit and Risk Committee.

Please note, that this is a voluntary unremunerated position and the post is for a term of two years and may be extended for a maximum of two further terms. The required time commitment will be commensurate with a minimum of four meetings per year. https://www.glencree.ie/governance/

Essential/Desirable:

  • has good experience of Audit & Risk Committees, ideally in a regulated environment or with exposure to the charity sector
  • can demonstrate financial oversight, strategic independent judgement and address issues collaboratively.
  • effective communication skills and a willingness to participate actively in discussion with an ability to focus on key issues
  • able to devote the necessary time and effort
  • be calm, solution-focussed with a willingness to speak one’s mind while listening to the views of others
  • understand corporate governance issues, compliance, and the reporting requirements of charities
  • an interest in, and a commitment to, the work of Glencree
